Auralis at the Comerio Industrial Sewing Coop | Auralis en la Cooperativa Industrial de Comerio

A passion of Auralis’ since her fashion brand days has always been making the remaining sewing coops in Puerto Rico a viable business alternative to mass production of military uniforms, which is the major employer of garment workers on the island Whether through giving them work or teaching them how to cost, control quality manages customers and ultimately, get better work The Fund of Investment and Cooperative Development of Puerto Rico hired us to provide workshops, training, and a toolkit about modular manufacturing, quality assurance, costing and cash flow, customer service, and fair-trade practices to the sewing coops of the island Auralis has spent the last six+ years working at a 500+ people factory on the island. In addition to the methodology she developed for assessing circularity in sewn products, she has created a training program that helps struggling factories become economically, environmentally, and socially viable fair trade businesses in Puerto Rico. Thanks to an OXFAM grant, her program was implemented in the island's two remaining women's sewing coops.
