Auralis Herrero Lugo Portrait

Auralís Herrero-Lugo is a consultant, designer, and educator with over 15 years of experience in circular manufacturing, sustainable product development, and textile innovation. She helps factories, brands, and artisans integrate circularity, automation, and fair trade practices into their supply chains, fostering sustainable business models.

Since 2013, she has lectured on Ethical Fashion, Circular Product Lifecycle, and Product Development at the Fashion Institute of Technology and developed sustainability curricula for universities and businesses, most recently Universidad del Sagrado Corazón.

At Bluewater Defense (2018–2024), Auralís was hired during a strategic expansion to transition the factory from primarily DOD contracts to commercial production, requiring expertise beyond military apparel. She advanced from Product Development Manager to Plant Manager and ultimately Program Manager, leading all commercial business development and innovation efforts. She spearheaded robotic sewing, new product lines, and sustainable supply chain strategies to position the factory for long-term success in commercial markets.

She previously founded Retazo, a circular fashion platform in Puerto Rico, and launched a sustainable resort wear line produced between NYC and Puerto Rico.Her work has been featured in CNNGlamourNow This, and The New York Times.
